There are many words that can be used to describe Rutherford B. Hayes, 19th President of the United States of America:
- Abolitionist
- Civil War General
- Ohio Native
- Governor of Ohio
- Representative of Ohio's 2nd Congressional District
- City Solicitor of Cincinatti, Ohio
- National Hero of the Republic of Paraguay
While these may seem impressive they are actually, in fact, irrelevant because other than being a celebrated icon in Paraguay, everything else happened before his presidency.
During his presidency he:
- Withdrew US Military from the South, peacefully ending the Reconstruction era.
- Upheld the Gold Standard, gallantly saving our coinage from the evils of silver.
- Upheld the Monroe Doctrine and protected Latin America from the vicious imperialism of Europe.
This is just a small list of what this of president did during his term, because he did too much good to even keep track of.
